Teaching assistant interrogated over offensive photos in morgue

Deputy Dean of Faculty of Medicine at Alexandria University Fatehy al-Seiwy referred on Thursday morning a teaching assistant with the Department of Anatomy to interrogations over offensive photos of him and his fiancée in the faculty's morgue.

The TA, named Wasim A., had allegedly taken photos with his fiancee inside the morgue of the Faculty of Medicine using skulls and surgical equipment and published the photos on social networking sites, sparking public anger as a violation of the sanctity of the dead bodies.

Siewy told Al-Masry Al-Youm on Thursday that head of the Anatomy Department Amal Abdel Monsef filed a formal complaint against the TA to the dean of the Faculty of Medicine over the incident.

The TA allegedly brought a photographer to capture photos of him and his fiancée inside the morgue at 2 pm, after the official working hours when none of the administrative supervisors of the building were there, Siewy quoted Abdel Monsef as saying.
