Three policemen wounded in Beni Suef

Three policemen were wounded Monday when unknown gunmen opened fire in Beni Suef.

A security source said the policemen’s vehicle came under attack by a group of men who had been hiding in a field near the highway where the car was parked.

Police exchanged fire with the gunmen but they managed to flee, the source said, adding that most of the victims were in critical condition.

Egyptian army and police forces have been targets for bloody attacks since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi in 2013. The government blames Morsi’s now-outlawed Muslim Brotherhood for masterminding most of the attacks.
