Tight security around churches in anticipation of demos on 28 November

A church source speaking on condition of anonymity said security services have taken strict measures around the St. Mark Cathedral in Abbasiya and all other churches in anticipation of demonstrations on Friday that were called for by the Salafi Front and the Muslim Brotherhood.

The source added that Sunday schools were cancelled and that the Friday mass was brought forward after security warnings of terrorist acts against churches, pointing out that the most threatened churches are those in Upper Egypt.

The Coptic Orthodox Church announced that Pope Tawadros II met last Saturday with Ahmed Gamal Eddin, the president’s security advisor, and Fayza Aboul Naga, the national security adviser.
