Tourism Ministry hopes to attract filmmakers

The Tourism Ministry is planning to help film companies shoot movies in Egypt with the aim of promoting the country's tourist destinations.

The first of these projects will be the movie A Hologram for the King, starring by Tom Hanks and directed by German director Thomas Sebastian. Some shots will be taken at Hurghada.

Sebastian said he wants to shoot some scenes underwater in Hurghada, which is home to rare coral reefs and fascinating scenery.

Tourism Minister Hesham Zaazou said he hopes the measure attracts international cinematic production companies to tourist destinations, including documentary filmmakers.

Officials hope these projects will attract tourists from around the world.
