Trial of 23 protesters over US embassy clashes resumes

The Cairo Criminal Court, headed by Judge Mohamed Nagy Shehata resumed on Thursday the trial of 23 defendants over clashes that occurred outside the US Embassy in Cairo on 22 July 2013.
 
Prosecutors charged the defendants with assembling, endangering public peace, murdering Amr Abdel Naby and injuring others, the deliberate sabotage of public property, possessing weapons, and showing off force to terrorize citizens. 
 
Shehata expelled EU representatives from court during the trial for not obtaining a permit to attend.
