Two Armed Forces officers die while shooting video clip for Sinai Liberation Day

Two Armed Forces officers were killed on Sunday afternoon while shooting a video clip in the Pyramids area on the anniversary of Sinai Liberation Day.

Wael al-Morr, an Armed Forces captain and Mohamed Zakaria, an officer with the special forces, arrived dead at the Haram Hospital after both sustained several fractures and concussions.

Military spokesperson Colonel Ahmed Aly said the two died during a training activity the Armed Forces was holding on the occasion of the anniversary of the liberation of Sinai.

According to investigations by Giza security authorities, singer Amr Mostafa had agreed with the Morale Affairs Department of the Armed Forces to shoot a song in the Pyramids area to celebrate the occasion. Two helicopters were used in the filming.

In the clip scenario, both officers descended from a helicopter on the top of one of the Pyramids carrying Egyptian flags. While the two officers were being hauled back up onto the helicopter, the rope got torn and they fell to the ground and died.

A report has been filed and the Military Prosecution was notified to begin investigations after the two bodies were taken to the morgue.

Activists on Facebook are circulating a video that they say shows the accident while it was happening.
