Vote registration for Egyptian expats extended until 11 April

The Presidential Elections Commission has announced that the deadline for Egyptians living abroad to register their names on the commission’s site in order to vote in the elections has been extended from 4 April to 11 April.

In a statement on Wednesday, the commission said the extension was due to a technical error on its part that occurs when changing a voter’s mother's name from English into Arabic.

Since registration opened on 5 March, 514,741 Egyptian expatriates out of four million in 166 countries registered their names.

The first round of expatriate voting takes place from 11 until 17 May, with the second round from 3 until 9 June.
