Wafd Party close to forming parliamentary bloc

The Wafd Party is close to forming an alliance with the Reform and Development Party, the Mostaqbal Party and 11 independent MPs.

The bloc is negotiating with the Conference Party to have it join the alliance.

There is a convergence of views between the Wafd Party, the Reform and Development Party and the Mostaqbal Party, said Wafd Party spokesman Yasser Hassan, adding that negotiations are ongoing with other independent MPs, as well as the Conference Party.

He pointed out that the party has already agreed with 11 independent MPs to join the bloc.

The bloc will be strong and will be able to play a big role in the Parliament, he said.

There might be a united parliamentary bloc of parties in the Parliament, said Chairman of Mostaqbal Party Yasser Qoura.

Negotiations may end with the integration of the three parties because they have a similar ideology, he pointed out.

The Wafd Party coalition will not be standing against the Coalition to Support the Egyptian State in the Parliament, but the coalition is against the control of a single parliamentary coalition.
