Warning: Electronic cigarettes, hookahs toxic

The Consumer Protection Agency (CPA) has warned against the use of both electronic cigarettes and electronic hookahs as they contain two toxic substances: Diethylene glycol and Nitrosamine.

CPA Director Atef Yacoub said the National Organization for Drug Control and Research rejected the registration, import and trade of electronic cigarettes since 16 June 2011 because there are no studies confirming their safety.

Yacoub added that the Supply Investigation Authority seized 74 electronic cigarettes, 57 chargers, 780 liquid nicotine doses and 140 electronic hookahs.
