13 Muslim Brotherhood students remanded into custody in Mansoura pending investigation on violence

Mansoura Prosecution ordered on Tuesday remanding 13 students from the Students Against Coup Movement, which supports the Muslim Brotherhood, into custody for 15 days pending investigations on charges of violence, burning central security vehicles and injuring seven policemen.

Prosecution requested swift investigations by the National Security Agency over involvement of the students in the incidents.

Fierce clashes erupted on Sunday between security troops and the Mansoura University students in front of Al-Baroun Gate while troops were confronting a protest staged before Faculty of Medicine against ‘military coup,’ the new protest law and the detention of their detained colleagues.

Protesters set two police vehicles on fire and smashed glass of another 16 private cars.

Security fired teargas bombs and birdshot heavily to disperse the protests, leaving dozens of students injured. Seven policemen were also wounded.
