Al-Sisi requests raising performance rates in development projects

Within his keenness on raising rates of performance and accomplishment as well as following up development ventures, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held meetings yesterday with the ministers of defense, aviation, agriculture and irrigation as well as the minister of environment to get acquainted with the efficiency of implementing projects, removing the obstacles and the development visions with the aim of creating a proper, encouraging and developing climate. The President also requested the necessity of upping rates of performance in these ventures.

Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Alaa Youssef said President Sisi discussed with Defense Minister Sedki Sobhi and some other leaderships of the Armed Forces the major national projects as well as some projects to be implemented within the development role carried out by the Armed Forces so as to push the wheel of economy, develop the society and fulfill the citizens’ needs.

These proposed ventures include the establishment of the biggest complex for producing phosphate fertilizers in Aswan province, where the President welcomed the project, calling for accelerating the implementation with the highest quality standards.

They also touched on increasing fisheries production, Youssef added. Sisi underlined the importance of taking advantage of Egypt's water resources by increasing the number of fisheries and upgrading fish farms.

In another meeting with Civil Aviation Minister Mohamed Hossam, the aviation minister reviewed a number of projects related to investment in the area surrounding Cairo Airport such as a comprehensive logistics service area, free trade zone, hotels and a conference center.

Sisi, meanwhile, issued directives to prepare a traffic plan in the area of Cairo Airport, said Youssef. He added that the President also ordered to complete the development work of Cairo Airport, added the spokesman.

President Sisi also met with Hossam Moghazi, the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, and Agriculture Minister Adel El-Beltagy.

During the meeting, El-Beltagy shed light on the steps to implement cooperation deals with South Sudan, that were signed during a state visit of South Sudan's president to Egypt in November, Yousef said.

The spokesman added a delegation from the ministries of housing, health and irrigation and water resources would head to South Sudan on December 15.

Sisi welcomed steps to boost bilateral ties with South Sudan to meet the aspirations and demands of the people of both countries.

Minister Beltagy also discussed a number of fisheries carried out at many reclamation projects.

Beltagy reviewed a number of fisheries projects in the new reclaimed lands. He touched on the outcome of the President's meetings with the director general of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) as well as the director of the World Food Program (WFO) recently in Rome, especially regarding the mechanisms of implementing the ''sustainable agriculture strategy'' in Egypt, where the President requested paying attention to developing the fish wealth and agricultural production, along with improving the quality of crops and irrigation systems.

President Sisi also met with Environment Minister Khaled Fahmy. The meeting took up the ongoing preparations for using coal for power generation, the presidential spokesman said.

The meeting also touched on environmental protection standards of using coal, the natural reserves, and the Nile water pollution.

In March, the government announced that it would allow coal imports under strict environmental regulations.
