Cairo metro near Helwan reopens after rainfall

Cairo metro resumed operation Thursday after intense rain in Helwan halted movement between the Maasara and Helwan stations on the first line.
 
A spokesperson from the Transport Ministry, Ahmed Ibrahim, said the heavy rain caused a glitch in the electricity network.
 
Egypt witnessed violent rainstorms in several parts of the country, which killed eleven in Beheira on Wednesday and continued to cause traffic and flooding in Alexandria.
 
The Egyptian Meteorological Authority had predicted unstable weather conditions would continue on Thursday, forecasting thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in Cairo, Sinai, and Lower Egyptian provinces.
