Campaign calls for conference on labor rights as protests surge in 2015

A labor rights advocacy campaign has said that the number of labor protests surged to 393 during the first quarter of 2015, thereby leading to a press conference for endangered workers on Tuesday.

'Towards a Fair Labor Law', a campaign formed in 2014 which is comprised of several independent trade unions and labor rights advocates, decided to host a press conference on 7 April for independent unions following the high number of protests this year.

The last count of labor protests for 2014 came from the Cairo-based International Development Center, which said the last quarter of 2014 witnessed 302 protests by workers.
