Conference to address stolen Egypt artifacts

Egypt has invited 30 countries currently in possession of antiquities from ancient civilizations to participate in a conference aimed at addressing the issue of stolen Egyptian antiquities now on display in museums around the world.

According to Zahi Hawass, secretary-general of the Egyptian Supreme Council for Antiquities, the conference–scheduled to take place in April–will present a list of stolen artifacts as a first step towards reclaiming them for Egypt.

"We will discuss collective action to be taken by all concerned countries with a view to reclaiming our antiquities in accordance with international law," Hawass explained.
