Court adjourns ‘Darbaka’ shooting trial pending forensic doctors’ examination

South Cairo Court has adjourned to March 9 the second session of the trial of policeman Mostafa Mahmoud Abdel Haseeb, accused of the premeditated murder of Mohamed Said Ali (aka Darbaka), so that the suspect can be examined by forensic doctors.

Public prosecutor Nabil Sadeq earlier referred the policeman to Cairo Criminal Court on charges of premeditated murder.

Abdel Haseeb has admitted to shooting Darbaka in the head during a scuffle resulting from an argument over a transportation fare. Darbaka died immediately.

The incident, which took place in Cairo's Darb al-Ahmar neighborhood in February, was witnessed by several people.

Several technical reports from the forensic medicine authority have confirmed the testimony provided by the eyewitnesses and also confirmed that the policeman's weapon was the same one used in the shooting.
