Czech tourism is one of the most promising markets that is rapidly developing in Egypt as the number of incoming tourists from January to August increased by 150 percent, said Chairman of the Tourism Promotion Authority Hesham al-Demiry.
If Czech tourists’ inflow continues with the same pace, Egypt will receive 200,000 Czech tourists annually, he added.
Demiry said he recently visited the Czech Republic, in the first visit for an Egyptian tourism official in four years, where he met tour operators and Czech media, as part of the authority’s plan to focus on promoting tourism to Egypt.
Demiry added in a statement on Wednesday that he met with a group of tour operators at the Egyptian Embassy where he explained the diversity of Egyptian tourism such as cultural tourism, conference tourism, medical tourism, and desert tourism to attract Czech tourists to different types of tourism, other than beach tourism.
Demiry pointed out that more than 90 percent of Czech tourists visit Egypt for beach tourism.
Problems facing Czech tourism were discussed with tour operators as well as means to address them, according to Demiry, who stressed that tour operators confirmed that the winter season is very promising, especially with the return of direct flights from Prague to Sharm el-Sheikh in July, after a stopping since 2010.
