Education Ministry announces arrest of student who leaked exam

 

Head of General Education Sector at the Ministry of Education Reda Hegazi said that the student who published parts of French Language exam of Thanaweya Amma was arrested in the Beni Suef governorate on Thursday.

Hegazi who occupies position of General Director of Thanaweya Amma exams noted out that the student posted exam photos 30 minutes after it had begun, on the “Shawming Byghashish Thanaweya Amma” (Shawming’s Cheats for High School Exams) Facebook page.

Egypt’s Thanaweya Amma exams started on Sunday and will continue over the course of a month, with 592,000 students taking the examinations to secure their futures at universities.

Hegazi clarified that he calls the exams’ operations rooms in the Egyptian governorates to ensure the readiness of the exam committees and follow up with those which witnessed cheating attempts.

Hegazi will also hold a press conference following the national education exam to provide a brief on the process of the exams.

Ministry of Education said on Monday that it has formed teams to monitor websites and pages on social networking websites to take the necessary legal measures against exam leakage and cheating attempts.

A total of 656,343 students started the Thanaweya Amma exams on Sunday, crucial to determine their academic future in Egypt.
