Egypt to undergo heatwave for five days: Meteorologist

 

Chairman of the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) Ahmed Abdel Aal announced on Tuesday that a heatwave is expected across Egypt from June 7 until June 11.

Abdel Aal added that temperatures would increase three to five degrees higher than normal during summer.

Hot weather is expected for the country’s north coast during daylight.

Winds are anticipated to be moderate and active north of Upper Egypt and South Sinai and will disturb navigation in Gulf Suez and Red Sea.

Moderate temperatures are predicted all over the country at night.

Abdel Aal pointed out that mist will rise to 85% north of the country, increasing humidity.

The following temperatures are predicted during the heatwave: 34C in northwesterly coasts, 35C in north Sinai, 41C in Cairo and Lower Egypt, 42C north of Upper Egypt and 43 south of Upper Egypt.

Meanwhile, Meteorologists expect moderate weather to prevail across the northern coast on Wednesday. Hot temperatures are predicted for Lower Egypt and Cairo, growing even hotter north of Upper Egypt during daylight.

Very hot weather is predicted south of Upper Egypt.

Temperatures are predicted for the following cities: 35C in Cairo, 30C in Alexandria, 38 in Qena, 38 in Luxor and 39 in Aswan.
