Egyptian Museum to celebrate 115th anniversary in two-week exhibition

Minister of Antiquities Khaled Anani, ambassadors of foreign countries and members of the House of Representatives will celebrate the Egyptian museum’s 115th anniversary in Cairo’s downtown on Tuesday.

Head of the Museums Sector, Elham Salah, said that the Ministry of Antiquities will open a two-week exhibition to display 86 antiquities including artifacts used for laying the museum’s foundation stone, including a bowl of wood decorated with silver, a trowel, a hammer, an inkwell and a quill pin with which the museum’s foundational document was written.

General Manager of the Egyptian Museum Sabah Abd al-Razek added that the Ministry of Antiquities received artifacts from the Emirate of Sharjah of the United Arab Emirates in early November. The ministry will display the artifacts during the celebration including statues and funerary paintings in addition to a mummy dated to the Roman Age after it was discovered in Fayoum’s Deir Al-Banat on November 15.
