ElBaradei investigated for attack on presidential palace

Prosecutor General Talaat Abdallah ordered an investigation Thursday into accusations that Mohamed ElBaradei, head of the  Dostour Party, incited protesters to attempt to storm the Ettehadiya Presidential Palace during protests last Friday.

Hassan Yassin, the deputy public prosecutor, will head the case filed by Mamdouh Ismail, vice president of the Salafi Asala Party.

The complaint said ElBaradei had tweeted the message, “violence & chaos will continue until Morsi & co. listen 2 ppl's demands: new gov., democratic const., independent judiciary,” on his Twitter account.

According to Ismail, ElBaradei used social media as a way to exert political pressure and incite violence without considering the consequences of his actions. Ismail added that ElBaradei had deliberately sought to stir up rage as protesters clashes with security forces and that he should be taken to court over the matter.
