Fatah: Hamas channels broadcasting live from Rabaa al-Adaweya is interference in Egypt’s affairs

Fatah spokesperson Ahmed Assaf has said that the live broadcast of the Hamas-owned Al-Quds and Al-Aqsa channels from Rabaa al-Adaweya Square east of Cairo amounts to interference in Egypt’s internal affairs.

“This harms the interests of the Palestinians, especially the people of the Gaza Strip, who are paying the price for such interference,” Assaf said.

“We have repeatedly warned Hamas against interfering in Arab Affairs and told them of the negative repercussions this entails on the interests and image of of our people and cause,” he added. “The media has generalized such interference and attributed it to all Palestinians.”

Assaf confirmed the position of President Mahmoud Abbas and the Fatah movement regarding the 25 January and 30 June revolutions. “We are with the aspirations of the Egyptian and the Arab peoples for freedom, democracy, justice, and social development,” he said. “And we salute the Egyptian politicians, revolutionaries, media professionals, and intellectuals for their stance against harming the image of the Palestinian people and their cause.”
