FM disappointed by EU statements on parliament polls

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed disappointment on Wednesday with statements made by Catherine Ashton, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, concerning Egyptian parliamentary elections.

Ashton had described as "inadequate" measures taken by the Egyptian High Elections Commission to ensure transparency of the elections.

An official source from within the Egyptian Foreign Ministry advised the EU to obtain information from credible sources to avoid making inaccurate statements.

The source added that Egyptian-European partnership provides an institutional framework allowing Egypt to accurately convey positive developments that accompanied the electoral process.
