Government to multiply food stuffs during Ramadan



Egypt’s Prime Minister Sherif Ismail ordered during a cabinet meeting on Sunday the government to multiply the quantities of meat, chicken, and other commodities starting from May 1 until the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

Ismail asked government officials to ensure distribution and delivery of essential commodities to the largest number of citizens in areas in most need.

The meeting, which was attended by Minister of Supply Ali Meselhy, Chief of the National Service Projects Organization (NSPO) Mustafa Amin and representatives from the Administrative Control Authority (ACA), ended with decisions aimed to ensure the implementation of Ismail’s orders.

The decisions included increasing quantities of meats and chickens to 10,000 tons and multiplying quantities of oil, sugar, milk, beans and other commodities during Ramadan.

“Ahlan Ramadan” (welcome Ramadan) exhibitions will extend their duration from May 10 until 31 May and cover all governorates. They will provide citizens with commodities supplied by companies of the Food Industries Holding Company (FIHC) and chambers of commerce.

Ministries of Oil, Tourism and Antiquities will bear the costs of one million bags containing supply commodities which will be distributed in poor areas and village free of charge.

Meanwhile, the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) and Ministry of Interior’s Supply Investigations will increase the monitoring campaigns at markets to ensure that gas cylinders are available during Ramadan.
