Moussa’s supporters denounce ‘attempts to mar reputation’

The Popular Front Supporting Amr Moussa for President has denounced attempts to mar the candidate’s reputation since his rise in popularity.

In July, accusations emerged that Amr Moussa supported a gas deal with Israel in 1993 when he served as Egypt foreign minister. In the deal, Israel allegedly received gas from Egypt as special rates below the international benchmark.

The front issued a statement, saying that such attempts would not affect Moussa’s status, whether in Egypt, the Arab region or the international community, nor would they erase his long political experience.

The statement also warned that legal measures might be taken against those who adopt smear tactics.
