406 Morsy supporters detained for Ramses clashes

Prosecutors ordered the detention of 406 supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsy following violent clashes at Ramses Square and on 6 October Bridge on Monday night.

Suspects have been detained for between four and 15 days pending investigations into charges of committing acts of violence, as well as trying to storm the Azbakeya police station and firing on police officers.

Some defendants have also been charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and bladed weapons, destruction of public facilities, blocking roads and disrupting transportation.
