Dispute on church construction in Minya village resolved

The Reconciliation Committee, including members of Muslim and Coptic families from Al-Our village, charged with resolving the dispute about building a church in the village, has declared that a consensus has been reached.

Major General Salah Eddin Zeyada, Minya governor, met with the committee members, along with a number of security representatives.

He said he will visit the village on Wednesday, in order to lay the cornerstone for the construction.

Conflicts erupted over the past few days when some residents opposed the construction of the church, despite its approval by the government. A church was going to be built in the village to honor the Egyptians who were beheaded in Libya by the Islamic State terrorist group.
