Egypt No. 159 in press freedom ranking

Egypt was ranked 159 out of 180 countries in terms of press freedom in 2013 by the Reporters without Borders organization on Wednesday, the same rank it had the year before.

The report mentioned that the suppression of the media under the Muslim Brotherhood, who tried to bring media under its control, was reversed when elected President Mohamed Morsy was ousted by the military, and instead has lead to other groups being persecuted.

The countries that topped the list were Finland, the Netherlands and Norway, while those at the bottom were Syria, Turkmenistan, North Korea and Eritrea.
