Ghad al-Thawra Party to run in upcoming parliamentary elections

The Ghad al-Thawra Party has decided to run in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Ayman Nour, president of the liberal party, said in a news conference broadcast live on Al Jazeera channel that a majority of the party’s high council agreed to run in the elections, in a 48–11 vote.

“We shall run individually or within lists,” he said, calling on all parties to participate. “It is easy to boycott, hard to participate.”

The elections, scheduled to start on 22 April, are expected to be held in four phases. The House of Representatives, Parliament’s lower house, is expected to convene on 2 July.

The largest opposition bloc, the National Salvation Front, has decided to boycott elections, saying it expects them to be unfair.
