Legislative Reform Committee to pass electronic signature draft law next meeting

Transitional Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ibrahim al-Heneidy said the Supreme Legislative Reform Committee is passing amendment to Law No. 15 of 2014 on electronic signatures, adding that the Communications Minister had approved the draft.

He said the law obliges the state authorities to electronically archive and index all official correspondences, as well as ratify electronic documents and signatures. He also said that electronic documents will have the same legal authenticity as original paper documents.

He added that this comes under the framework of developing and updating the administrative apparatus towards establishing an e-government in order to attract investments and facilitate services to citizens.
