Mansour to form committee in charge of constitutional amendments

Awad Saleh, constitutional adviser to interim president Adly Mansour, said that the president, either Thursday or Friday, would issue a decree appointing legal experts to the committee in charge of drafting amendments to the constitution of 2012.
 
Judicial sources gave Al-Masry Al-Youm the names of the nominees.  They include the president of Cairo's Court of Appeals Hatem al-Sayed Mohammed Bassiouni, the vice-president of the Court of Cassation Mohammed Eid Mahgoub, the vice-president of the Supreme Constitutional Court Mohamed Shennawy, the vice-president of the Supreme Constitutional Court Mohamed Khairy Taha, the Deputy Chairman of the Council of State Essam Eddin Abdel Aziz Gad al-Haq, the vice-president of the Council of State Magdy Hussein Agaty, and the Faculty of Law professors Fatehy Fekry, Hamdy Ali Omar, Salah Eddin Fawzy, and Ali Abdel Aal Syed Ahmed.
 
The sources added that the presidency will announce next week the criteria for the selection of the 50-member committee which will review and revise the amendments put forward by these legal experts.
 
Mostafa Hegazy, political affairs advisor to the interim president, said at a press conference at al-Ettihadeya Palace yesterday that the experts would be highly efficient and would keep in touch with various national forces to build consensus for the amendments.
