Massive aquifer discovered in west Minya

A new source of groundwater in Egypt that could last over 100 years has been discovered in the west Minya governorate, Irrigation Minister Hossam Moghazi announced on Monday.

According to the minister, the Nubian Aquifer will contribute to the land reclamation project in Upper Egypt.

Moghazi was present during an experiment that was done to determine the depth and type of groundwater found in the well.

The aquifier extends to four countries: Egypt, Sudan, Chad, and Eritrea, said Moghazi, stressing that this groundwater could keep growing for more than 100 years to come.
