Preventive Medicine Department: 280 suspected cases of Coronavirus of which 250 were negative

Preventive Medicine Department Director Amr Kandil said there have been 280 suspected cases of Coronavirus since the first case was detected in a passenger coming from Saudi Arabia, who has completely healed.

“Tests proved 250 cases of them negative,” he said, adding that the remaining 30 cases are under examination and that results would come out within 48 hours.

“Quarantines are applying strict measures in all air and seaports and travelers to infected destinations are given advice,” he said.

“The World Health Organization said the virus has not reached the stage of an epidemic in Saudi Arabia,” he said, reassuring pilgrims of Umra.

He explained that the total number of cases worldwide is 687 infected cases and 181 fatalities, of which 90 percent were in Saudi Arabia, with the rest in the United Kingdom, Qatar, Jordan, France, the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, the Philippines, Malaysia and China.
