During an interview with Al-Masry Al-Youm, Egypt's Ambassador to Denmark Nabil Habashi said the West has fears about Salafis in Egypt. He said Salafis are an integral part of Egyptian society and that democracy entails everyone's participation. Habashi also discussed the embassy’s loss of contact with the Egyptian government during the 25 January revolution. He said the first instructions he received following former President Hosni Mubarak’s ouster was to freeze his assets abroad.
