For first time ever in Cannes International Film Festival, Egypt is Guest of Honor. However, Egypt stays out of official competition. Egypt showcased 18 Days about Egypt's popular uprising which led to president Mubarak's ouster. Actor Ahmed Helmy made a statement after movie screening. Complimentarily, Actors Youssra, Mona Zaki, Khaled Abul Naga, Aaser Yassen, Mohamed Karim; directors Youssry Nassrallah, Kamla Abu Zekry, Marawan Hamid, Mariam Abu Ouf and Sherief Bendary - all spoke onstage to a wide audience.
