Supporters of presidential candidate Ahmed Shafiq broke down in tears and wails after the Presidential Elections Commission declared Mohamed Morsy Egypt’s new president. Al-Masry Al-Youm captured the reaction in the eastern Cairo neighborhood of Nasr City, a frequent rallying point for Shafiq supporters.
