Party of former Yemeni president: US ambassador tells Saleh to leave the country by Friday

A source at the office of Ali Abdullah Saleh, the former Yemeni president and head of the General People's Congress Party, said that the American ambassador to Yemen Matthew Tueller informed the party through an intermediary that Saleh should leave Yemen before 5 pm on Friday, as he risks sanctions against him upon the request of President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi and the US State Department to the Security Council.

The source said in a statement posted on the party’s website on Wednesday that this is considered a blatant interference in internal Yemeni affairs, stressing that no foreign party is entitled to deport any Yemeni citizen from his homeland.

He urged the public to cope with any threats to the security, stability and unity of Yemen.
