Policeman killed, another two injured in Arish

A policeman was killed and another two injured when armed men attacked them on their way to work on Monday morning. The three worked at Arish's third police Station.

Major General Ali al-Azzazy, assistant North Sinai security chief, said that while the three policemen were on their way to work on foot, masked gunmen stopped beside them in a car and fired. The attack took placce in Athari Square.

The police station was not attacked, Azzazy added. The victims were transported to the military hospital in Arish.

Another man was also killed after armed men fired on a cafeteria in Sheikh Zuwayed, security sources told Al-Masry Al-Youm.

Egyptian authorities will close Rafah border crossing on Monday afternoon. The crossing will usually remain open on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays only.
