Before joining Al-Masry Al-Youm English Edition, Saif was the newsroom manager of ON TV. He also worked as a correspondent for United Press International, covering Egypt’s domestic affairs and foreign policy. Saif was also the foreign desk editor of the Egyptian daily El Badeel. He covers Iraqi issues for Al Ahram Weekly and Al-Siyassa Al-Dawliyya. Saif also worked shortly for the Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies. He received a bachelor's in economics and master's in political sociology from the American University in Cairo.
