Sunday's papers: Nasser assassination claims surface while debate continues over election participation

File photo of Al-Masry Al-Youm Nasser Collection. Today, September 28, 2010. Egypt commemorates 40th anniversary of late Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser's passing. Nasser's memory comes at a critical point of Arab-Israeli conflict, amid divisions between Arab leaders whom - according to popular conception - as his contemporary legendary Oum Kalsoum was able to unite Levant and Maghreb Arabs singing, he was able to unite both, delivering a speech in Cairo. Recently, Ms. Ruqaiya al-Sadat, daughter of late President Mohamed Anwar al-Sadat, has requested legal action, filing at General Prosecutor, against veteran journalist Mohamed Hassanein Heikal who, on Tagrubat Hayah (A Lifetime's Harvest) of Al-Jazeera news network, publicly suggested, according to Ms. Sadat, late President Sadat may have poisoned his predecessor Gamal Abdel Nasser; hence fostering a mental image of President Sadat as a plotter in copious writings on his life and connections to Free Officers Movement.
