Judges want exemption from supervision of future elections

Emotions running high during the general assembly at the Judges Club in Cairo, 24 December, 2010. A number of judges sent a request to the general assembly calling for their exemption from the supervision of any future elections following the violations that took place during the 2010 Parliamentary elections. The meeting came following the tertiary-term elections of the Judges Club which ended in a sweeping victory for the “Change list” headed by Counselor Ahmed al-Zand.

Wafd Party holds conference on consequences of parliamentary elections entitled "Yes for toppling the rigged parliament", Suez, December 20, 2010. Number of opposition leaders and political forces' representatives attended the conference during which they discussed expanding the shadow parliament to include a Shura Council and other alternative local councils.The parallel parliament's founding committee selected former MP Alaa abdel Moneim as the official spokesperson.

Al-Wafd Party's supreme authority and members of its executive office headed by Dr. al-Sayed al-Badawi meet to discuss the party’s position on its members that did not adhere to the parliamentary run-off poll boycott decision, Wafd headquarters, Dokki, Giza, 8 December, 2010. Many Party leaders were of the opinion that the member should be expelled from the party in accordance with Article 5 of the Party rules. The six members that won seat in Parliament are Safir Noor, Musaad al-Miligy, Atef al-Ashmouni, Tariq Sabaq, Mohammed al-Malki and Magda al-Noweishi.

Ashour stands before the prosecutor following his reappearance

Muslim Brotherhood candidate Magdy Ashour, who was competing for the workers seat in al-Nuzha and al-Marg constituencies, at the East Cairo Prosecution, following his re-appearance. Ashour is being questioned in relation to the suit filed by his family who accused MB members of kidnapped him, Cairo, 6 December, 2010. During the investigation Ashour said his freedom was restricted by the group but that he was not kidnapped.
