Temporary heat wave sweeps over Egypt: EMA

Head of the Egyptian Metrological Authority Ahmed Abdel Aal stated on Monday that a heat wave is sweeping over the country with temperatures increasing up to six degrees above average until March 8.

He added that hot weather is expected on the northern coast while warmer weather is anticipated across the rest of the country during daylight hours.

Cold weather is expected across the country overnight.

Abdel Aal said that the “hot wave will be accompanied by active wind disturbing sand and dust while storms will dominate west of the country reducing vision on roads and disturbing the maritime navigation in the west Mediterranean.”

“Wind speed will reach 20 to 25kn,” Abdel Aal added.

Abdel Aal recommended residents in Egypt to keep on wearing heavy clothes. “We are still in winter season. The temperatures are expected to return to normal degrees again.”
