Three extremists killed, 74 suspects arrested in North Sinai

Three extremists have been killed by security forces in North Sinai, with 74 other suspects arrested over the past few days, according to a statement by the spokesperson for the armed forces, Tamer al-Refaei, on Thursday.

The statement added that legal measures were being taken against the suspects.

On top of this, security forces found and destroyed five vehicles, four stores manufacturing explosives, and two underground storage spaces where 10 tons of fuel had been smuggled.

At crossings and ports leading to North Sinai, security forces seized a vehicle carrying materials used in the manufacture of improvised explosive devises, and a vehicle carrying motorcycle parts.

Another vehicle used for smuggling cannabis and opium was seized.

Two suspects had been arrested at a crossing leading to North Sinai, according to the statement. They had been carrying radios, forged passports, satellite communication equipment, and a large sum of money.
