Association demands govt address processed meat cancer risks

The Quality Control Association has demanded that the prime minister address the increasing cancer cases resulting from eating processed meat, as stated in a report from the World Health Organization (WHO).

The association requested a briefing of the precautionary measures that the government has taken in this regard.

It also demanded an amendment to the standards for the meat industry and the licenses granted to meat factories in accordance with the WHO's report, in order to protect public health.

The association expects that the ministry's laboratories will be further developed in order to examine and analyze processed meat samples. It also wants a task force to be assembled to monitor the implications mentioned in the WHO's report.
