Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting on Sunday to follow up on efforts to provide basic commodities in the presence of the Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, Hassan Abdalla, and Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, Ali al-Moselhi.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister renewed his call for the various state agencies to make basic products and commodities available in order to meets all needs and requirements of citizens.
This meeting comes in order discuss providing the dollar component needed for basic commodities, especially cooking oil, powdered milk, and more, he added.
The governor of the CBE explained that it has facilitated meat imports from Djibouti recently, and that $100 million will also be provided for cooking oil and dairy products, according to the requests of Supply and Internal Trade Ministry.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister highlighted the coordination and cooperation being done with the relevant agencies to quickly release several goods in ports across Egypt and provide the dollar component for them.
Madbouly stressed that work must continue to provide production inputs for local manufacturing processes, especially for food products and commodities, while further supporting the industrial sector.
The CBE’s Governor noted that ongoing coordination is in place to provide the dollar component necessary for more goods and products.
