Chinese engineer attempts to smuggle mummified animals into Sudan

Cairo Airport authorities prevented a Chinese engineer from smuggling three parcels containing marine artifacts from Egypt into Sudan Thursday.

The artifacts included a mummified shark and two large mummified sea turtles as well as coral and shellfish, a security source told Al-Masry Al-Youm.

Airport official General Salah Zeyada filed a report and ordered a special committee from the wildlife office within the airport to examine the confiscated items. The committee deemed the shipment illegal and recommended that the artifacts be sent to the agricultural museum in Dokki, according to the source.
