Egypt constructs major hotel project to serve visitors of Grand Egyptian Museum, Pyramids

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced that the government is working on a large hotel project to serve tourists visiting the Grand Egyptian Museum and Giza Pyramids.

This comes as part of the first projects launched in partnership with the private sector and the New Urban Communities Authority.

Madbouly assured the project’s standards are at the highest levels, and features up to 1,500 hotel rooms, in addition to educational and commercial services.

Madbouly’s remarks came during a press conference, on Saturday, during his inspection tour of several projects in the 6th of October City.

He said that the project to develop the pyramids area was an idea first thought of 2015, and now through the help of the private sector the nation is reaping its benefits.

Madbouly added that this project is a model for the government to follow, and is moving forward with maximum energy during the coming period.

The state would provide all support to the private sector during the next stage, adding that the Prime Minister’s office receives all requests and complaints.

The Grand Egyptian Museum made it possible for Egyptians and foreigners to visit, with several guided tours, to test the readiness of the site before the official opening, through pre-booking on the Grand Egyptian Museum website.

Visitors will get tours of the Great Hall and the Glass Hall, in addition to visiting the conference center and the commercial area with the museum’s external gardens and the food court area.

However, the interior spaces of the Grand Egyptian Museum, including the museum galleries, remain closed until the official opening.

Free entry tickets are available only at the museum’s main ticket sales windows for children under four years of age and people with special needs. Prices for Egyptians range between LE75 and LE150.

Visiting hours start daily at the Grand Egyptian Museum from 9 am to 6 pm.
