Election turnout 1.19% as of Sunday afternoon

The first stage of parliamentary elections witnessed a low turnout on Sunday with a turnout of no more than 1.19 percent reported and 16,957 votes cast, according to a press statement from High Elections Committee Spokesperson Marwan Omar. 

The highest turnout so far comes from Alexandria and the lowest from the Red Sea governorate. 

 
According to Omar, 13,878 votes were cast by women and 3,130 by men. In the age bracket categories, 7,225 voters were over the age of 61, followed by 3,390 voters from the age group of 31 to 40, 1,175 voters from the age group of 21 to 30 and 268 voters from the age group of 18 to 21.
