Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad has emphasized the strength of Egypt-Bangladesh historical friendship and cooperation in various fields.
The minister made the remarks as she participated in a ceremony organized by the Bangladeshi embassy in Cairo to commemorate the country’s Independence Day.
Attending the event on behalf of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, the environment minister pointed out to the rich history of Bangladesh that was full of challenges and obstacles that the Bangladeshi people were able to overcome until their country gained independence.
Fouad also pointed out to the great cooperation between Egypt and Bangladesh, which is meant to encourage climate finance and address climate challenges.
In this regard, the minister praised the prominent role played by Bangladesh in global climate negotiations, noting that the South Asian nation is among 20 countries that are threatened by the negative effects of climate change.
Bangladesh has always stressed the necessity of urgent and serious work aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions in order to mitigate the effects of climate change, she said.
