Fine for cutting down trees in a public space

The Water Resources Law promulgated No. 147 of 2021 punishes anyone who cuts down or removes trees planted in public properties without a license from the competent authorities, with a fine of no less than LE1,000 and no more than LE5,000 for each tree.

Article 99 of the law stipulates that anyone who violates the provisions of Article 8 of this law shall be punished with a fine of no less than LE1,000 and not more than LE5,000 for a single tree or palm tree.

Article 8 stipulates that it is not permissible to dispose of trees and palms that were planted in public spaces, whether by cutting or uprooting, except with a license from the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources.
