Gunmen open fire on security positions in Sinai, no casualties

Unknown gunmen opened fire on two security positions in the Sinai Tuesday.

Security sources and eyewitnesses said masked gunmen in a jeep shot at security forces close to Arish International Airport. Troops exchanged fire with them, before the assailants fled the scene. No casualties were reported.

Another group of gunmen meanwhile fired rocket-propelled grenades on a Central Security Forces camp in Rafah in North Sinai, close to the border with the Gaza Strip, on Tuesday. Troops exchanged fire with them.

Sources inside the camp said no casualties were reported, although a number of police vehicles stationed inside were damaged.

Apache helicopters flew over Rafah city in order to follow the gunmen.
